Talia Joy Castellano was diagnosed on Valentine’s Day 2007 with neuroblastoma. She was 7 years of age at the time of her diagnosis. In spite of aggressive treatments, Talia’s cancer returned three times. After the third relapse, Talia and her family learned that she was also diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, otherwise known as preleukemia. Talia was then battling two cancers.

During Talia’s six and a half years of fighting cancer she discovered the magic of makeup. On August 27th, at the age of 11, she uploaded her first makeup tutorial to YouTube. Instantly she became a YouTube sensation as well as a spokesperson for childhood cancer. Talia’s positive attitude in spite of her aggressive fight against cancer led to her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in September 2012. It was on this show that she learned that Covergirl Cosmetics had made her the first ever honorary CoverGirl!

Talia left us too soon. She earned her wings on July 16, 2013. She was 13 years old.

During Talia Joy Castellano's life, she made it clear she wanted to leave her footprints on the world. The American Childhood Cancer Organization is proud to have formed a national collaboration with Talia’s Legacy—the new Foundation formed by Talia’s mother Desiree and Talia’s sister Mattia. Working together we look forward to fulfilling Talia’s wishes to improve the lives of children diagnosed with cancer and to leave her hand prints and footprints on the world.
